How We Work With Our Writers And Editors

INFORMATION FOR JOB SEEKERS

At StaffWriters.com, we're always looking for talented associates who can join our team.

Currently, our database includes thousands of professionals falling under 250 or so highly specialized writing and editing categories. So, if you are a member of the StaffWriters Plus team, consider yourself in good company.

Q: DO YOU CHARGE JOB SEEKERS FOR THIS SERVICE?

No. There are no charges. Services to job seekers are free.

Q: HOW DOES STAFFWRITERS PLUS WORK WHEN YOU FIND ME A JOB?

Much like a staffing agency. We pay you as an employee (W-2) when you work with one of our clients and a standard contract is involved. Otherwise, you are free to work on your own and the choice of accepting an assignment is yours. We negotiate the fee with the client and pay you promptly after the assignment is completed. No invoices to send, no money to chase and no awkward negotiations with the client. In cases of full-time opportunities, we also negotiate your annual salary and benefits and help you through the entire process.

Q: DO YOU ACCEPT EVERYONE WHO APPLIES?

No. We review your submission for skill requirements, experience and application to client needs. It could take a week or so before we send you our decision and you may even be contacted by one of our project managers for more information. Also, only those candidates signing up through our Web site will be included on the site’s database. Others who do not wish to appear on the site can register with us privately by sending us e-mail with an attached resume.

Q: HOW CAN I GET ASSIGNMENTS THROUGH YOUR WEB SITE?

There are two ways. You are welcome to come in, browse our job openings and respond to any position. In this capacity, we merely provide a way for you to contact the employer, but nothing else. We will not negotiate fees for you nor will you have the opportunity to solicit advice or the expertise of our highly trained recruitment professionals. Though we pre-screen our postings, you are responsible for checking the validity of the employer and the opportunity. The second way is to have us represent you before a client. Some employers have engaged us to locate and pre-qualify candidates for them. In this case, you can either contact us with interest in those jobs or we will contact you independently with opportunities as they arise. Those jobs will be clearly marked.

Q: HOW DO YOU ASSIGN WRITERS?

When StaffWriters Plus secures a position for a client, it uses an electronic database to locate writers whose specific skills meet the need for the intended project. If you are a potential candidate for a position, we will forward your resume and any samples to the client only after your approval. If the client is interested in working with you, we will then contact you to negotiate a mutually acceptable compensation package. Once an agreement is reached, we will arrange a meeting/conference call with you and the client to discuss the project. Our project managers will then work with you until the assignment is complete and to specification.

Q: WHY DON'T YOU PAY FREELANCERS AS 1099s?

Treating you as our employee, which means payroll taxes are deducted, is a much more efficient way of meeting the IRS' multiple requirements for independent contractors and is the accepted national standard for all staffing entities. Employers also like the fact that we are committed enough to you to absorb this cost.

Q: WHAT DO YOU DO WITH THE INFORMATION I GAVE YOU WHEN I BECAME A MEMBER?

All personal information, that is information that can readily identify you, is kept confidential on a proprietary and secure database. Any other information, skills, first name, location, etc. or information that does not make you readily identifiable but describes your skills as a writer or editor are posted on our web site as a way of attracting potential employers and to offer you as wide a range of opportunities as possible. From time to time, we will send you information on our services but this will not be frequent. We do not sell your information to anyone nor will we divulge your identity to a potential employer without your approval. You have the option at any time to eliminate your name from our Web site or private database or both. Please read our Privacy statement carefully for more information.
